Facebook sucks!... that's what I thought about a year ago, but now i find myself using it a lot. At first I tought it was a complete waste of time, and even now i still think it is, and this is because there are people who obsess over it.
When it comes to sharing media (videos, photos,etc ) I think it's a pretty useful application, but on the other hand , there are those games like "farmville"(which 90% of the people seem to love) that don't really have any propose, other than wasting your time.
In the end I think it's ok to use facebook, as long as you keep it to a minimum (probably 30 or 45 mins a day)...
Oh and by the way, you better not publish any of your personal information on facebook because, if you do, facebook can make use of that information in any way they want...
