Have been more earthquakes in this year than in others?

Due the bunch of earthquakes that has beaten the earth on the present year, people have come to think that the 2010 is the year where human race have to have face more earthquakes than in all his history. But that perception is wrong.
According with the United States Geological Survey in the last twenty years they have been more able to detect earthquakes and this because of the increase of seismographs stations located all over the world and because the development of global communications but that the number of earthquake that we are having is the same or is a low variety of the average.
Then in couple of decades ago for example, if something were occurred in Indonesia or China, for the rest of the world it would take days or even weeks to get the information.
The United States Geological Survey attributed the fact that the more damaged and deaths occur in cities where infrastructure is quite weak and the density of is quite high as well.
So we can conclude that is mere a psychological issue among people fear and ignorance.
