Essay 3: TOEFL vs. FCE?

From my point of view, I'm in favor of taking TOEFL instead of FCE. First of all, the main reason I can say is that all of the institutions, like universities or jobs, generally ask for certain number of points of TOEFL as a general measure of english proficiency.

In the other hand, while many people say FCE is better because it does not have to be renewed, TOEFL has to be taken every two years because of its importance, I mean, to prove others that we are still in touch with english. Besides, for the ETS institution (the one that applies TOEFL), it is the renewing process where they make business.

The main disadvantage of the FCE, in my opinion, is that because it is not renewed and time goes by, the less practice you get and the consequence is a high loss of english skills.

To conclude this opinion, I can say that this test is more complete than FCE, because you do not only learn coloquial english, but also the academic one, which helps us to grow and to learn even more that if we just know the simple english.

Chile's Earthquake 27/02/2010

Early Friday morning, one of the more stables countries of South America was shaking as a doll rag, seemed like a Hollywood horror movie, a Chilean housewife said. An earthquake of 8.8 magnitude was hitting Chile, being this the fifth bigger quake of the last 100 years.
The firefighters were in a whole rush early Friday morning to try to fix what the monster brought. Here some of the damages, around half million houses were broken, some overpass became rubbles and many cars got contract because of that, blackouts were common in several cities.
The Government said at least 214 People were killed, the International Airport of the Capital was closed some hours because it shown damage such as broken glass, and fell halls. One wall of a Prison Southern Santiago went down, and two hundred sixty nine inmates took advantage of it and escaped. In others cities people loot pharmacies, shops, and so on.

After this, the world was expecting a rush of Tsunamis hit the Countries ashore Pacific Coast, But the alarms were deactivated hours later, just in the main island of Hawai, some people said, that the water in the ocean moves a little bit down, but not big waves were seen. There is an evident fear in Chilean because of what can happen in next hours, President Barack Obama has offers to help the Andean Country, and at the same time has made a call to the word, to be alert
for upcoming events.

= WRITING 3: Fall Out Boy Music =

Fall out boy is a rock group composed of 4 men who are from Chicago, Illinois.
This group was formed in early 2001 by Joseph Trohman and Pete Wentz. They played before in other groups in Chicago but, they decided to create a new one to play music very similar like when they were teenagers (like Green Day or Blink 182).
One day, Joseph met Patrick Stump at a bookstore; Joseph introduced himself to Patrick because he heard Patrick was talking about a group called Neurosis and Joseph was interested as well. After that, Patrick did a addition for playing the drums but, when Joseph and Pete heard his voice, they decided he will be the principal voice of their group.
During the first two concerts, they didn’t have a group name but, at the end of the second concert, one of the integrants asked to the public for some ideas, and it was when one person screamed “Fall out boy”, referring to the character of the Simpsons.
After his first album, Andrew Hurley was the new integrant of the group and, Patrick started to play the guitar at the same time.
In 2008 they revealed they would play in the Antarctica to be in the Record Guinness like the only rock group that had played in the different six continents in just nine months but, over time, they couldn’t because of the weather.
And even though they had had some problems with a video they did with animals (chimpanzees), they are considered a great pop punk rock at this time.

Well, to be honest, I don't really know much about this music group, I mean, I know they were very, very, VERY! famous, but what it comes for their music, It kind of gets me boring... maybe because it is too slow or happy. Something interesting that I know about them is that Paul McCartney and John Lennon were indeed really different. While John Lennon liked to get the attention, make controversy and all that kind of stuff, Paul was more reserved, not exactly serious though, but he didn't like to have the press around him.

Many people believe that this will be real, and if I add they had already read the book of mayas about a profecy with is about destruccion in our world, exactly december 21, but this is not all, that profecy tells something about a big change in the world, like a revolution, and we don´t know exactly what will happends, the incredible thing is that is the day when finish the maya calendar.
Some cientists are worried because they know mayas thaey were very well astrologists, they could understand the movement of the stars and the constelations.
in conclusion, I think that we can´t stay so worried about it, maybe we can believe in this predictions, but we can not know certanly what will happens

VIDEO GAMES

Already successful a large variety of video games for people of different ages, not only children and youth spend more time on Playstation, X-BOX, in the computer and more recently in mobile games.

In my opinion, all video games are harmful and dangerous to physical and mental health, specially for kids, because when they spend much time in video games their brain cells die and atrophies your brain and your body too, because they don’t engage in exercise or other activities in your free time.

In conclusion, exist video games with different degrees of danger, but generally the people that play much time many people who play video games are lonely, listless unsociable and aggressive. This youth have few friends.

Hi!!
i´m going to write you about a comic movie Old School.
For me is one of the most funny movies that i ever saw, it´s about guy (mitch) who come back from work in a diferent state and he wants to give to his wife the surprise of come back home before plans and the surprise was for him!!! when he arrived to his room he was shocked to find out that his wife take part in orgies and sex with diferents people.
Than he decide to let the house and move on to another one who is very close from college and the funny begins when the principal doesn´t want him in that house who is part of the college than he decide to open a fraternity and they do a lot of parties and mitch and some of his best friends live the most importan season on his 30´s and new girls!!!

Personaly i think this is a good movie for everyone but is just for 18+

Contamination in the World

This is my firts post and my topic is "Contamination in the World".

On this occasion, very briefly, to cover my views on pollution and explain a bit about the different types of contamination. To start we must know how it is generated pollution.
Basically consists in the generation of waste in half, which is introduced over capacity, this, to remove them. There is therefore a matter of what products are introduced, but their quantity. The large amount of this waste poses a serious imbalance in the system until reaching the point of impossible life of existing species.

Water.

Water is our main resource, vital to society and nature. Of all the water on the planet, only a fraction is usable by society, and the greater part of nature. As this valuable resource is contaminated? Then when disposing of chemicals in rivers, littering we are polluting the water. Now we'll see how it contaminates the soil.

Soil.

This is done when we invaded lands for the construction of cities, houses, etc. Also deforestation and fires favor the soil loss. All this causes erosion.

We must unite in society and avoid polluting our world and that every day we spend more and more resources of our planet and remember that not everything is forever.

Dreams

Dreaming some times could be good because you can feel relax, when you wake up and remember your dream, but when you have nigthmares like me, you feel anxious and worry.
Most of the time I had had nightmares, for that reason I don´t like it. I had researched about their meaning and its not good news to me. For example, Frequently, I dream whit water, and according with the expert people that means troubles. As you can see, dreaming its not good to me.

Boston, city of the Massachusetts state, is an awesome place that you should go to visit some day.
Without doubt, it is a tourist place with different strategic places that catch your attention because of the beautiful views or the things are around there.
Boston is a “cold place” most of the time but, in summer, it is really hot… Something hard to believe.
So much snow in winter makes that Boston looks like a totally white city, and of course, you can have fun and have the experience doing snowmen!!!
Another thing you should do over there is to visit Harvard University. It’s an outstanding place! Its church, its library, its museum, its buildings, and gardens are perfects. And it’s important to say that all those things change completely if you go in winter or in summer. The “setting” is totally different but, both are worth.
Charles River, Quincy Market, Boston Common Park, the Public Garden, the Aquarium, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Mapparium, the Malls, the Beach, all the historic constructions, buildings, restaurants, or the shop stores are only some of the tourist places from there and, every one has his own “magic spark”.
Finally, you have to go and enjoy one of the Red Sox games into his stadium but, if you don’t like base ball games, you have the option to see a basket ball game of the Celtics from Boston.
So, if you see, Boston Massachusetts has so many wonderful places you can have fun, use your time, and enjoy every day that you are over there. Give you an opportunity to know it!

Essay 2: Why means never say anything

From my point of view, it is not correct to qualify a person
as mean or as clever, it is just that sometimes topics where we
are specialized at, differ between people. For example, a person
who studies business cannot talk in the same level like a person
who studies medicine, the language is totally different. However,
sometimes people in the same area of studies, are not able to
hold a very good conversation, but it is because one of them are
not likely to express what they think or feel, I mean, they are not
interested in having a conversation.

I just can say that a person will not say anything unless they like
the topic or know about it a bit, because otherwise, they just won't know
what to say, which take us to realize that people cannot be called as mean
just for being paralyzed in a conversation.

How has contributed the ACF in help to solve the Hunger Problem in Haiti.

The devastating earthquake in Haiti brought with it thousands of deaths, homeless, orphans and hunger as well such an unfortunately event for The Poor Country. After this happened the whole world move into a solidarity state and sent what they were able to give.
An alarming aspect is hitting the Country after the first 40 days of the event past is without doubt the hunger, while thousands of people has suffering about this, the different global organizations help has been moving on the way for help to fight against the problem.
The ACF International is a worldwide organization whose has been involve into delivering emergency services as nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene since 1985. These are some of the programs in which has contributed in what respect of food security.
• Distribution of seeds and farming tools
• Rehabilitation and conditioning of production means in rural areas
• Support to most vulnerable household economies
• Food security surveys
And in other hand for water and sanitation, these are the programs :
• Distribution of drinking water using tank trucks
• Construction and rehabilitation of potable water networks
• Water Management Committees
• Distribution of hygiene kits
• Training in hygiene
• Construction and rehabilitation of wells and water sources
• Construction of latrines

Yesterday was February 14 and the tradition is spend the day or part of the day with your friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, wife, husband...etc. With someone that you related with love.

The most of the partners gives presents, like flowers, chocolates, teddy bears and that kind of things, the tradition was that the boys give to the girls something but now days the girls make presents too.

The downtown was so crowed, the people were so crazy looking for something at last minute, and the movie theater obviously was full.

In my opinion the people have to be romantic and give presents during all year, anyway the most important isn´t the material things, the most special is stay with the person or people that you love.

gay couple are in this year a topic that people choose becouse thay have a lot to talk about . i dont have problems with them, i think persons can do watherever they want to fine the happiness , but i think its true that gays frecuently have a lot of problems , becouse now in the society that we live they dont complete accepted , in my point of view,that make them sometimes unhappy, very commun or sometimes the own family of a gay woman or men dont accept this fact , i hope with the time people learn to love the things or facts that they dont know, becouse all people disert be happy . i wanna be happy and you?

Personal Experience

One of my favorite personal experiencies was over two years ago. Me and my family were traveling to Foreworth, Texas (near Dallas). They always told me that i would have to help them because everything was in english: the highways, exits, streets, boulevards. I was 11 years old at that time... imagine that! I was terrified, afraid to dissapoint them. On the other hand, i was very excited about the idea of showing to my familly how muck¡h i knew about english. Fortunately, everything was ok ( I mean, we almost miss an exit in one of the most hectic citys in texas: Houston) once you miss an exit there... there's no turning back, lots of bridges, I was shocked! at the end we enjoyed a pleasent day at Six Flags.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE GLOBAL WARMING

In my opinion the global warming something terrible that all are created. Since the tecnology started to grow,the pollution in our city, the rise of the sea levels etc. The horrible consequences in many aspects of our life. We are guilty even we don´t want to accept it.
Actually we can see that consequences in our planet, for example the changes of the weather so quikly,and because of that mortal hurricanes in many places of our country, people who are dying of hungry and sickness in Haiti for the big earthquake; or the animals wich are been affected and they die every day trying to fight for survive as the polar bears who are drowing because they have to swing longer dictances to find the ice.
that are some of the examples of these global warming, the damage is done, the only thing we can do is try to rescue the few valuable things that we still have and teach to our children to take care for our planet.

HOMEWORK: Movies

A movie is a masterpiece that relates a story written by a screenwriter and the characters are interpreted by actors.
The story could be based in a real story or fantasy, that's why there are different kinds of movies like: fiction, romantic, comedy, etc. And they are classified in different ways, it meas they can be familiar movies, for kids, teenagers or older.
The success of a movie I think depends of so many aspects like, I said before, the story or the actors but, there are other things people consider to decide if that movie is really good, for example, the music, the special effects or the place where were made it.
Anyway, like people say, every mind is a world so, at the end, everyone has his own point of view and, everyone can criticize the movies like they want. There are cases where someone says that one movie is awesome and, in the other hand, another one can say that movie is really bad or something like that.
In my personal opinion, an excellent movie is where you cannot figure out the end or the whole story, where you finish surprised for the end or where you are in focus all the time. And I think it is a little bit difficult to be like I said but, it is not i mpossible I am sure... "Avatar" is one of them...

My opinion about religion

In my opinion, there are many reasons which make this topic so controversial; first of all, we have to talk about the diversity of beliefs, which always disagree one each other with certain points of view. In consequence, instead of helping people to get into an advanced spiritual level, they take them to a never ending fight. Secondly, the main purpose of a religion gets deviated from making a better world to a let's see whose powers are the biggest ones.

For all of these reasons and many more, people avoid to talk about this topic and nowadays it has become a subject where people thinks will never be in peace; however, I consider that it's the matureness of people which one day will make people to talk about it, in a quiet and peacefully way with the target of making this place a better place to live at.

THREE POINTS OF GRAMMAR THAT I HAVE PROBLEMS

• First on the prepositions, because I think that I don´t know as many as I should know
• Many times happends me that I forget the structure of a sentence by the name, for example If my teacher ask me to write a sentence with the present perfect continuos I´m going to think...., but if the teacher give me an example that is going to be easy for me.
• Other problem is with two words are mixed and together has a completely different meaning , I don´t remember the name, those are easier for example pick up, turn off, but exist other much more complicated and I have trouble with that
