Have been more earthquakes in this year than in others?

Due the bunch of earthquakes that has beaten the earth on the present year, people have come to think that the 2010 is the year where human race have to have face more earthquakes than in all his history. But that perception is wrong.
According with the United States Geological Survey in the last twenty years they have been more able to detect earthquakes and this because of the increase of seismographs stations located all over the world and because the development of global communications but that the number of earthquake that we are having is the same or is a low variety of the average.
Then in couple of decades ago for example, if something were occurred in Indonesia or China, for the rest of the world it would take days or even weeks to get the information.
The United States Geological Survey attributed the fact that the more damaged and deaths occur in cities where infrastructure is quite weak and the density of is quite high as well.
So we can conclude that is mere a psychological issue among people fear and ignorance.

I would like to come back to the past.
I think it would be a good thing because I could change so many things to be all of us better right now.
For example, we have huge and sensitive problems about water, global warming, animals in danger of extinction, diseases, wars, contamination, and other important things. And I know that my idea is crazy but, I wish I could have this opportunity to try everything and explain to people how we are with all those problems in 2010 th and how we are trying to solve them.
Maybe a book can be the "solution", I mean, if I write the different cases we are having; how many people are living with diseases; how water is not enough in several places around the world and the consequences we have about it; or global warming, that for me, it is the most important and dangerous problem in the world. But the other problem here is that, if we don't know how to solve the contamination, radiation, tree felling, or killing animals, we are so far to solve global waRming because this one is the consequence of the other ones.
That's why I think that writing a book with an explanation of how we are living, maybe in the past we could change some things that can help us to have a better world.

TOEFL PRACTICAL ESSAY

TOPIC: If you could change one important thing about your country, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.

I think we have a very huge cultural problem in our country and Its very hard to decide one thing to change to face it and to build a better country. But whether i have the chance to decide surely i would change the education system. i would start intruducing a new subject in high schools program it would be "The permaculture" i think this would create an environmental awareness. And i would add a condition for university students in order to graduate from college. This condition would be to go out from the country at least for 6 months and live the experience of live in other culture. This both conditions would help to develop theirs awarness of life and would aid them to take better decisions in theirs life and consequently would take affect in our country.

And that some small part i would change from my country, but from my point of view is the more important to face our cultural problem.

I bet Mexico is not the best country, but its citizens are waiting for a higher expectation of change. There is more than one aspect that these people and I would like to change about it.

At this point, where the tactics, those that are applying by the government, are not doing a big impact in the society who claims for peace. So, nowadays our country is becoming unreliable for their own people. Sometimes, you wish to stop all that is wrong with the government and just delete it easily as it comes. But, at this time that is running in our nation, in my opinion most people included I, would like to take out the insecurity that is occurring.

Insecurity is an issue that is often present at the talks from each and every one of the Mexicans. Daily, we hear, read and see all the media, shocking news about rising crime in our country. Because, unfortunately this point that has been left to grow from previous administrations and now has reached exorbitant levels affect the daily lives of the Mexican society. Uncertainly, that is not something that affects only members of any social class, religion or sex, but affects everyone equally. What is the country we want to leave for our future generations? As a teenager going to college, I don´t want this for my future. I hope deeply actions and consequently effective results.

With the help of technology, life is easier today than in the past.

Nowadays, the technology is everywhere and anytime. When you wake in the morning and turn on the TV using technology, when you prepare breakfast, use technology when you call someone on the phone ... Yes, that's technology. But will be true when we hear that technology improves our lives ?

Technology today has made life easier and quicker but dangerous, but
how is technology dangerous? The answer to this question is very simple. There's lots of incident where there is malfunction in technology. Many people dislike the production of technology. Technology also creates financial problems in families because most technologies are very expensive to buy like the computers, televisions, refrigerators, etc.

However there are more advantages in technologies than disadvantages. How is technology an advantage? Today technology is very important in society because it makes life easier to live on and not time consuming. The use of technology today has made people think harder to encourage them to create other technology that will benefit us in the future for survival, employment, education, health, etc, the technology improved quality of life of people, have improved health care, transplants, etc. Things could not previously are now possible thanks to Medical Technology.

The Technology could be the best thing that ever happened to us. It's possible that the future generation might depend on technology for survival because parent's today doesn't want their kids to go through what they went through in life. So I think that technology makes like easier.

Many people think that technology is a good thing and a bad thing. Well I agree I agree with these views. But we must have a comprehensive. The technology as references can be a two-edged sword. We create these technologies for us and take life easier. Do not let them control us. =)

For organize an appointment you just have to send him or her message through the page and the other person will replay the message in order to arrange the date.
If everything went well during the process of agreement you will have a couch, a bet or a small place on the floor where to sleep 1 or 2 days, depends of the person.
My recently experience with Couch surfing was here in Victoria. A guy from South Caroline wrote me last week, he wanted to stay at my place for two days in his way to San Luis where he well meet another person from the Webpage. He is taking a trip on his motorcycle from South Caroline until some city in South America. His name is Daniel and is 28 he just finished a Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and was a good opportunity to talk about his Country and I told him some important things about mine country.

FACEBOOK :P

Facebook sucks!... that's what I thought about a year ago, but now i find myself using it a lot. At first I tought it was a complete waste of time, and even now i still think it is, and this is because there are people who obsess over it.

When it comes to sharing media (videos, photos,etc ) I think it's a pretty useful application, but on the other hand , there are those games like "farmville"(which 90% of the people seem to love) that don't really have any propose, other than wasting your time.

In the end I think it's ok to use facebook, as long as you keep it to a minimum (probably 30 or 45 mins a day)...

Oh and by the way, you better not publish any of your personal information on facebook because, if you do, facebook can make use of that information in any way they want...

My favorite book

My favorite book is Cien años de soledad By Gabriel García Marquez, inf fact I read it twice, one of them were when I was in junior school as a part of a subject called literatury; in thas time I got different concept about the book that I have now. In the story you found a little town called Macondo, in that town lives Buendía family, I can say its a peculiar family because all of the members have their owns stories. Different kinds of things happened in Macondo, for example, one day suddenly, the people entered in a deep dream as cause of "la canícula". In the story, the author show us a perfect circle, it mean, he show how the life starts and how it end. To read this book is a good exercise of refelction because the author makes a severe critic to the political system of his country and at the same time he show the costums to us of his country, Colombia, that are similar to ours.

British vs American English

British english respect the pronunciation of the words that have french origins. In change, americans usually omite some letters that "Are not necessary" and regularly dont respect the french origins words giving them an american pronunciation.

Some examples:
A: Color B: Colour
A:Center B: Centre
A: Honor B: Honour
A: Analyze B: Analyse

In Latin American is usually used amercian english because is close to US. British english is usually used for school proposites and things like that.

Vocabulary is also different . For example :
A: Elevator B: Lift
A:Trunk B:Boot

.:: My Personal Experience ::.

I would like to share with you my latest experience I had the last year.
My adventure started the first day of shcool, when I came back to home I was lost, almost crying, at night, and snowing... Without know where I was... The funny thing was that I was to one block of home, I realized that when an old woman helped me to find my house. Actually, she was my first American friend I met, and her family and I still keep in touch.

All the time I was living over there, I had so many different activities, I knew a lot about general culture, I ate different kinds of food, and of course, I met a lot of people from all over the world.

My school is called EF, International Language School, and it is too famous. And now, I have friends from Germany, France, Italy, Taiwan, Indonesia, Turkey, Madagascar, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Japan, Korea, China, Spain, Brazil, Russia, Boston, and Mexico as well.

I think that was the best thing of my whole experience, that I made many friends and that we are still in touch...

Like my housemates, who I miss them a lot... Some of them were leaving, other ones were arriving, every month I had new ones and, it was pretty cool because we went out and we were like siblings.

And finally, "the cherry on the cake" was that I was one of the speakers in my gradutaion, I respresented the American Continent, and I gave a speech, a really good one. And all my teachers, even teachers I never met, congratulated me because I said a moving speech that had good messages like this one "If you cannot be the highest pine in the forest, don't worry!! Be a bush... But among the bushes, ALWAYS BE THE BEST". They loved it. And I am so proud for have been the person who spoke in front of all the school.

How to make Hot Cakes

To begin you need:
1.- 3 cups of hot cakes flour
2.- 4 eggs
3.- 1 cup of sugar
4.- 1 cup of orange juice
5.- 3/4 of cup of corn oil.

Now that you have all the ingredients, mix all of them, then, put the mixture in a lubricated mold, finally, bake it at 175 °C for approximately 40 minutes.

Cool, now I'm hungry!

Essay 4 - Chile's Earthquake

In my very personal opinion, this earthquake is one of the most
terrible catastrophes I have ever seen in my life.
I really feel that this disaster can tell us how damaged the world is,
and it makes me realize that some fault is mine, because I am a part of those
who destroy our planet. However, I feel like I cannot understand
what Chile is passing through, because I have not been in that situation
and I do not know how my reaction would be.

I would like to help those people, by sending them money
or any kind of affordable help, but for sure, my prayers are with them.
However, we must not to forget what happened in Haiti,
and not even the incidents in our country, because even if they
are not as recent as this one, they take years to be forgotten,
at least, at first sight, because in their minds, the day of the earthquake
will stay forever.

This time I will talk about one of my favorite TV programs: "That 70's Show". This sit-comedy takes place in 197something, it's about a gang that always hangs out at Eric Foreman's basement. The gang is formed by: Hyde, a really strange guy who likes to make fun of everybody and always says stuff about they being watched by the government and a conspiracy (of the government, of course). Narcotraffic and Goverment

On this occasion I will comment my opinion on an important issue and delicate. Will speak on narcotraffic and the fight he has against the Mexican government.

The violence in Mexico has increased in recent weeks. Every day there are executions, assassinations of senior police, shootings in broad daylight, heads without bodies, bodies without heads and countless horrors that are complemented by the police inability to deal with narco-violence. Organized crime is all over the country and disputed areas of power to the state "to you by your" due to their fire power and corruption of police officers and polítical. Ones years ago the battle between cartels for control of customs, crossings, squares etc., has become an organized crime front war against the government of Felipe Calderón. Huge areas of Mexico are under the power of drug trafficking. This is a fact acknowledged by the autoridades. Felipe Calderon has given the mexican military police functions (which the Constitution is not theirs) and in places such as Tamaulipas and Tijuana, are soldiers who patrol the streets in view of the inability or complicity police with criminals. The Mexican army and navy are the most respected institutions by the Mexicans. We must avoid losing this trust.

Currently there are five thousand soldiers integrated into the public secu

rity forces, their means will be reduced year by year as new officers are graduating. But still, not cope; this without counting the desertions since the narcos pay a hundred times more than the Government. During the government of Vicente Fox dropped 150 thousand soldiers and so far Calderon, twenty thousand.

Policies are needed to attack poverty, family violence, education, services, that is absent from the agenda. Drug trafficking is not a matter of cops and robbers.

I propose a national system of social crime prevention which addresses the causes of crime. In addition to command police operations, is to flood the regions with education, health, culture, sports, jobs, better opportunities in life, healthy recreation and productive projects.

Essay 3: TOEFL vs. FCE?

From my point of view, I'm in favor of taking TOEFL instead of FCE. First of all, the main reason I can say is that all of the institutions, like universities or jobs, generally ask for certain number of points of TOEFL as a general measure of english proficiency.

In the other hand, while many people say FCE is better because it does not have to be renewed, TOEFL has to be taken every two years because of its importance, I mean, to prove others that we are still in touch with english. Besides, for the ETS institution (the one that applies TOEFL), it is the renewing process where they make business.

The main disadvantage of the FCE, in my opinion, is that because it is not renewed and time goes by, the less practice you get and the consequence is a high loss of english skills.

To conclude this opinion, I can say that this test is more complete than FCE, because you do not only learn coloquial english, but also the academic one, which helps us to grow and to learn even more that if we just know the simple english.

Chile's Earthquake 27/02/2010

Early Friday morning, one of the more stables countries of South America was shaking as a doll rag, seemed like a Hollywood horror movie, a Chilean housewife said. An earthquake of 8.8 magnitude was hitting Chile, being this the fifth bigger quake of the last 100 years.
The firefighters were in a whole rush early Friday morning to try to fix what the monster brought. Here some of the damages, around half million houses were broken, some overpass became rubbles and many cars got contract because of that, blackouts were common in several cities.
The Government said at least 214 People were killed, the International Airport of the Capital was closed some hours because it shown damage such as broken glass, and fell halls. One wall of a Prison Southern Santiago went down, and two hundred sixty nine inmates took advantage of it and escaped. In others cities people loot pharmacies, shops, and so on.

After this, the world was expecting a rush of Tsunamis hit the Countries ashore Pacific Coast, But the alarms were deactivated hours later, just in the main island of Hawai, some people said, that the water in the ocean moves a little bit down, but not big waves were seen. There is an evident fear in Chilean because of what can happen in next hours, President Barack Obama has offers to help the Andean Country, and at the same time has made a call to the word, to be alert
for upcoming events.

= WRITING 3: Fall Out Boy Music =

Fall out boy is a rock group composed of 4 men who are from Chicago, Illinois.
This group was formed in early 2001 by Joseph Trohman and Pete Wentz. They played before in other groups in Chicago but, they decided to create a new one to play music very similar like when they were teenagers (like Green Day or Blink 182).
One day, Joseph met Patrick Stump at a bookstore; Joseph introduced himself to Patrick because he heard Patrick was talking about a group called Neurosis and Joseph was interested as well. After that, Patrick did a addition for playing the drums but, when Joseph and Pete heard his voice, they decided he will be the principal voice of their group.
During the first two concerts, they didn’t have a group name but, at the end of the second concert, one of the integrants asked to the public for some ideas, and it was when one person screamed “Fall out boy”, referring to the character of the Simpsons.
After his first album, Andrew Hurley was the new integrant of the group and, Patrick started to play the guitar at the same time.
In 2008 they revealed they would play in the Antarctica to be in the Record Guinness like the only rock group that had played in the different six continents in just nine months but, over time, they couldn’t because of the weather.
And even though they had had some problems with a video they did with animals (chimpanzees), they are considered a great pop punk rock at this time.

Music: The Beatles

Well, to be honest, I don't really know much about this music group, I mean, I know they were very, very, VERY! famous, but what it comes for their music, It kind of gets me boring... maybe because it is too slow or happy. Something interesting that I know about them is that Paul McCartney and John Lennon were indeed really different. While John Lennon liked to get the attention, make controversy and all that kind of stuff, Paul was more reserved, not exactly serious though, but he didn't like to have the press around him.

It will be the end of the world? Many people believe that this will be real, and if I add they had already read the book of mayas about a profecy with is about destruccion in our world, exactly december 21, but this is not all, that profecy tells something about a big change in the world, like a revolution, and we don´t know exactly what will happends, the incredible thing is that is the day when finish the maya calendar.
Some cientists are worried because they know mayas thaey were very well astrologists, they could understand the movement of the stars and the constelations.
in conclusion, I think that we can´t stay so worried about it, maybe we can believe in this predictions, but we can not know certanly what will happens

VIDEO GAMES

Already successful a large variety of video games for people of different ages, not only children and youth spend more time on Playstation, X-BOX, in the computer and more recently in mobile games.

In my opinion, all video games are harmful and dangerous to physical and mental health, specially for kids, because when they spend much time in video games their brain cells die and atrophies your brain and your body too, because they don’t engage in exercise or other activities in your free time.

In conclusion, exist video games with different degrees of danger, but generally the people that play much time many people who play video games are lonely, listless unsociable and aggressive. This youth have few friends.

Hi!!
i´m going to write you about a comic movie Old School.
For me is one of the most funny movies that i ever saw, it´s about guy (mitch) who come back from work in a diferent state and he wants to give to his wife the surprise of come back home before plans and the surprise was for him!!! when he arrived to his room he was shocked to find out that his wife take part in orgies and sex with diferents people.
Than he decide to let the house and move on to another one who is very close from college and the funny begins when the principal doesn´t want him in that house who is part of the college than he decide to open a fraternity and they do a lot of parties and mitch and some of his best friends live the most importan season on his 30´s and new girls!!!

Personaly i think this is a good movie for everyone but is just for 18+

Contamination in the World

This is my firts post and my topic is "Contamination in the World".

On this occasion, very briefly, to cover my views on pollution and explain a bit about the different types of contamination. To start we must know how it is generated pollution.
Basically consists in the generation of waste in half, which is introduced over capacity, this, to remove them. There is therefore a matter of what products are introduced, but their quantity. The large amount of this waste poses a serious imbalance in the system until reaching the point of impossible

Water.

Water is our main resource, vital to society and nature. Of all the water on the planet, only a fraction is usable by society, and the greater part of nature. As this valuable resource is contaminated? Then when disposing of chemicals in rivers, littering we are polluting the water. Now we'll see how it contaminates the soil.

Soil.

This is done when we invaded lands for the construction of cities, houses, etc. Also deforestation and fires favor the soil loss. All this causes erosion.

We must unite in society and avoid polluting our world and that every day we spend more and more resources of our planet and remember that not everything is forever.

Dreams

Dreaming some times could be good because you can feel relax, when you wake up and remember your dream, but when you have nigthmares like me, you feel anxious and worry.
Most of the time I had had nightmares, for that reason I don´t like it. I had researched about their meaning and its not good news to me. For example, Frequently, I dream whit water, and according with the expert people that means troubles. As you can see, dreaming its not good to me.

Boston, city of the Massachusetts state, is an awesome place that you should go to visit some day.
Without doubt, it is a tourist place with different strategic places that catch your attention because of the beautiful views or the things are around there.
Boston is a “cold place” most of the time but, in summer, it is really hot… Something hard to believe.
So much snow in winter makes that Boston looks like a totally white city, and of course, you can have fun and have the experience doing snowmen!!!
Another thing you should do over there is to visit Harvard University. It’s an outstanding place! Its church, its library, its museum, its buildings, and gardens are perfects. And it’s important to say that all those things change completely if you go in winter or in summer. The “setting” is totally different but, both are worth.
Charles River, Quincy Market, Boston Common Park, the Public Garden, the Aquarium, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Mapparium, the Malls, the Beach, all the historic constructions, buildings, restaurants, or the shop stores are only some of the tourist places from there and, every one has his own “magic spark”.
Finally, you have to go and enjoy one of the Red Sox games into his stadium but, if you don’t like base ball games, you have the option to see a basket ball game of the Celtics from Boston.
So, if you see, Boston Massachusetts has so many wonderful places you can have fun, use your time, and enjoy every day that you are over there. Give you an opportunity to know it!

Essay 2: Why means never say anything

From my point of view, it is not correct to qualify a person
as mean or as clever, it is just that sometimes topics where we
are specialized at, differ between people. For example, a person
who studies business cannot talk in the same level like a person
who studies medicine, the language is totally different. However,
sometimes people in the same area of studies, are not able to
hold a very good conversation, but it is because one of them are
not likely to express what they think or feel, I mean, they are not
interested in having a conversation.

I just can say that a person will not say anything unless they like
the topic or know about it a bit, because otherwise, they just won't know
what to say, which take us to realize that people cannot be called as mean
just for being paralyzed in a conversation.

How has contributed the ACF in help to solve the Hunger Problem in Haiti.

The devastating earthquake in Haiti brought with it thousands of deaths, homeless, orphans and hunger as well such an unfortunately event for The Poor Country. After this happened the whole world move into a solidarity state and sent what they were able to give.
An alarming aspect is hitting the Country after the first 40 days of the event past is without doubt the hunger, while thousands of people has suffering about this, the different global organizations help has been moving on the way for help to fight against the problem.
The ACF International is a worldwide organization whose has been involve into delivering emergency services as nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene since 1985. These are some of the programs in which has contributed in what respect of food security.
• Distribution of seeds and farming tools
• Rehabilitation and conditioning of production means in rural areas
• Support to most vulnerable household economies
• Food security surveys
And in other hand for water and sanitation, these are the programs :
• Distribution of drinking water using tank trucks
• Construction and rehabilitation of potable water networks
• Water Management Committees
• Distribution of hygiene kits
• Training in hygiene
• Construction and rehabilitation of wells and water sources
• Construction of latrines

Homework ; Topic: Valentine´s Day!♥

The most romantic day of the year! ❤

Yesterday was February 14 and the tradition is spend the day or part of the day with your friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, fiancé, wife, husband...etc. With someone that you related with love.

The most of the partners gives presents, like flowers, chocolates, teddy bears and that kind of things, the tradition was that the boys give to the girls something but now days the girls make presents too.

The downtown was so crowed, the people were so crazy looking for something at last minute, and the movie theater obviously was full.

In my opinion the people have to be romantic and give presents during all year, anyway the most important isn´t the material things, the most special is stay with the person or people that you love.

gay couple are in this year a topic that people choose becouse thay have a lot to talk about . i dont have problems with them, i think persons can do watherever they want to fine the happiness , but i think its true that gays frecuently have a lot of problems , becouse now in the society that we live they dont complete accepted , in my point of view,that make them sometimes unhappy, very commun or sometimes the own family of a gay woman or men dont accept this fact , i hope with the time people learn to love the things or facts that they dont know, becouse all people disert be happy . i wanna be happy and you?

Personal Experience

One of my favorite personal experiencies was over two years ago. Me and my family were traveling to Foreworth, Texas (near Dallas). They always told me that i would have to help them because everything was in english: the highways, exits, streets, boulevards. I was 11 years old at that time... imagine that! I was terrified, afraid to dissapoint them. On the other hand, i was very excited about the idea of showing to my familly how muck¡h i knew about english. Fortunately, everything was ok ( I mean, we almost miss an exit in one of the most hectic citys in texas: Houston) once you miss an exit there... there's no turning back, lots of bridges, I was shocked! at the end we enjoyed a pleasent day at Six Flags.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE GLOBAL WARMING

In my opinion the global warming something terrible that all are created. Since the tecnology started to grow,the pollution in our city, the rise of the sea levels etc. The horrible consequences in many aspects of our life. We are guilty even we don´t want to accept it.
Actually we can see that consequences in our planet, for example the changes of the weather so quikly,and because of that mortal hurricanes in many places of our country, people who are dying of hungry and sickness in Haiti for the big earthquake; or the animals wich are been affected and they die every day trying to fight for survive as the polar bears who are drowing because they have to swing longer dictances to find the ice.
that are some of the examples of these global warming, the damage is done, the only thing we can do is try to rescue the few valuable things that we still have and teach to our children to take care for our planet.

HOMEWORK: Movies

A movie is a masterpiece that relates a story written by a screenwriter and the characters are interpreted by actors.
The story could be based in a real story or fantasy, that's why there are different kinds of movies like: fiction, romantic, comedy, etc. And they are classified in different ways, it meas they can be familiar movies, for kids, teenagers or older.
The success of a movie I think depends of so many aspects like, I said before, the story or the actors but, there are other things people consider to decide if that movie is really good, for example, the music, the special effects or the place where were made it.
Anyway, like people say, every mind is a world so, at the end, everyone has his own point of view and, everyone can criticize the movies like they want. There are cases where someone says that one movie is awesome and, in the other hand, another one can say that movie is really bad or something like that.
In my personal opinion, an excellent movie is where you cannot figure out the end or the whole story, where you finish surprised for the end or where you are in focus all the time. And I think it is a little bit difficult to be like I said but, it is not i mpossible I am sure... "Avatar" is one of them...

My opinion about religion

In my opinion, there are many reasons which make this topic so controversial; first of all, we have to talk about the diversity of beliefs, which always disagree one each other with certain points of view. In consequence, instead of helping people to get into an advanced spiritual level, they take them to a never ending fight. Secondly, the main purpose of a religion gets deviated from making a better world to a let's see whose powers are the biggest ones.

For all of these reasons and many more, people avoid to talk about this topic and nowadays it has become a subject where people thinks will never be in peace; however, I consider that it's the matureness of people which one day will make people to talk about it, in a quiet and peacefully way with the target of making this place a better place to live at.
